Locations (CalcumateGEO)

Locations are your physical facilities. CalcumateGEO uses them to work out which facility is closest to a visitor and serve that facility’s calculator. Locations are shared across all your calculators: a location you add while editing one calculator is available to every other calculator on your account.

Open the Locations drawer from the Manage locations link on the Options step. Visitors only see locations once Enable nearest facility is on. See Options.

Click Add Location and fill in the form.

Field Required Notes
Friendly Site Name No Shown to visitors in the facility selector. Up to 100 characters.
Internal Name No For your own reference. Up to 100 characters.
Site URL No The facility’s page on your website. Full URL including https://.
Latitude Yes Between -90 and 90, for example -33.865143
Longitude Yes Between -180 and 180, for example 151.209900
Linked Calculator No The calculator served to visitors near this location. Choose from your existing calculators, or leave as “Not linked”.

You can find a facility’s latitude and longitude by right-clicking its position in Google Maps.

Click Add Location in the form to save. Errors appear under the field they belong to.

Each location in the list shows whether CalcumateGEO can use it.

  • Ready for GEO. The location has coordinates and a linked calculator.
  • Missing coordinates. Latitude or longitude is not set.
  • Not linked. No calculator is linked yet.

A location is only served to visitors when it shows Ready for GEO. Locations created in an earlier version of the builder may carry a small tag saying so. They work the same way once they have coordinates and a linked calculator.

When a location is linked to the calculator you are currently editing, the list says “Linked to this calculator”. Otherwise it shows the linked calculator’s name.

Use the gear icon to edit a location and the bin icon to delete it.

To add many facilities at once, click Download template to get a CSV file with the expected columns, fill it in, then click Import CSV and choose the file.

The columns are:

friendlySiteName,name,url,latitude,longitude,calculator_id
  • latitude and longitude are required on every row. The other columns may be left empty.
  • calculator_id is the identifier of the calculator to link. Leave it empty to import the location unlinked and link it later from the edit form.
  • The first row must be the header row exactly as in the template.

Each valid row is created as a location. Rows with problems are skipped and listed under the import summary with the row number and the reason. Fix those rows in the file, remove the rows that were already imported, and import again. Importing a row a second time creates a second copy of that location.
